Using a chain tool, a pin in the chain can be fully or partially screwed in or out in order to provide the chain with the correct number of links. For this purpose, the chain tool is equipped with a pressure pin which has a smaller diameter than the pin in the chain. The pin is attached to a screw mechanism so that the pin can be screwed in or out. When the pin is turned out, the pin will then be pushed further and further out of the chain by the pin. The closing of the chain depends on the type of bicycle chain.
