Specifications of this VWP Chain tool bicycle de Luxe BT-15R
VWP chain tool de luxe BT-15R A chain tool is a tool with which a bicycle chain can be brought to the correct length. Using a chain tool, a pin in the chain can be fully or partially screwed in or out in order to provide the chain with the correct number of links. For this purpose, the chain tool is equipped with a pressure pin which has a smaller diameter than the pin in the chain. The pin is attached to a screw mechanism so that the pin can be screwed in or out. In order to be able to press a pin out of the chain, the chain is placed in the chain punch in such a way that it falls into the intended cam(s) and the pin comes into line with the pin. When the pin is turned out, the pin will then be pushed further and further out of the chain by the pin. The closing of the chain depends on the type of bicycle chain. Some chains can be closed again by pressing back an existing and not fully pressed out pin with the chain tool with the chain tool. With other chains, the pin must be fully pressed out with the chain punch, after which a special pin must be used to close the chain again. There are also special closing links that can close the chain without a chain tool.
