Dankzij het geëmailleerd gietijzer behouden alle ingrediënten hun voedingswaarde en volle smaak. Gietijzer is zeer sterk en houdt uitstekend warmte vast; als de cocotte eenmaal heet is, kan het gerecht met een minimum aan energie langzaam verder garen. Gietijzer houdt tevens kou vast: zet de cocotte voor het serveren in de koelkast en hij blijft ook op tafel koud. De speciale mat zwarte afwerking aan de binnenkant is slijtagevrij, makkelijk in onderhoud, en bevat de ideale eigenschappen om ingrediënten aan te braden, te bakken en te karamelliseren. De buitenzijde van de Staub- cocotte is voorzien van minimum 2 lagen email; de buitenkant van de cocottes in de intensere majolicakleuren is afgewerkt met meerdere lagen email. Het perfect passende deksel is onderaan volledig voorzien van dopjes oftewel picots®, waardoor de inhoud continu besprenkeld wordt: vlees en groenten blijven dus lekker sappig. Niet alleen is de Staub-cocotte efficiënt in gebruik, ook op tafel is het een echte blikvanger.
