De felrode Ara is een grote, kleurige papagaai uit Zuid-Amerika. Hij voedt zich met vruchten en noten. De felrode Ara is bekend om zijn prachtige veren, die in prachtige kleuren oplichten. Hij ziet er niet alleen prachtig uit, hij is ook zeer opvallend. In het regenwoud, versmelt hij daardoor optisch met de groene bladeren en de bonte vruchten. Tot zijn lievelingseten behoort naar vruchten ook paranoten, hun harde schaal kan hij moeiteloos met zijn snavel open breken.
