Zijn korte poten moet je niet onderschatten. Hij komt razendsnel omhoog gekropen en grijpt de tegenstander in zijn tang. Help! De ijskrab is goed gecamoufleerd in de ijswereld met zijn ijzige pantser. Hij neemt een slimme positie in: hij blijft kalm en wacht onbeweeglijk tot zijn tegenstander dichtbij genoeg is. Dan schiet hij razendsnel uit zijn dekking. Hij tilt zijn krachtige scharen op en grijpt zich vast. Als hij iemand eenmaal te pakken heeft, laat hij nooit meer los. Zelf is hij goed beschermd. Zijn pantser, bedekt met ijskristallen, is niet zo gemakkelijk te kraken.
