Wanneer boer Paul 's ochtends uit het raam van zijn roodgeverfde, grote boerderij kijkt, staan zijn dieren hem al verwachtingsvol aan te staren. Nog voordat hij een ontbijtje voor zichzelf maakt, voert hij de koe en het kalf, het varken en het biggetje. De kat krijgt natuurlijk ook iets, al was het eigenlijk de bedoeling dat hij de nieuwsgierige muis op de hooizolder zou vangen. Nu alle dieren gevoerd zijn, gebruikt boer Paul de lier om het hooi weer naar de hooizolder te takelen. De dieren worden de wei ingedreven, zodat de stallen goed kunnen worden schoongemaakt. Vanuit zijn hok op het dak staart de duif hem aan. Hij roekoet zo nu en dan: 'Ben je niet een hoekje vergeten'?
