De gevederde velociraptor maakt veel indruk als hij verschijnt. Hij is geeloranje van kleur en heeft een vertakte, donkerbruine streep op zijn rug. In zijn bek schitteren scherpe hoektanden, die hij graag laat zien als hij zijn kaken dreigend opent en sluit. Hij heeft scherpe klauwen waarmee de carnivoor zijn prooi doodt.De twee meter lange velociraptor steigert op zijn achterpoten en steekt zijn platte snuit in de lucht. Hij ruikt iets. Hij laat een gevaarlijk gegrom horen en opent en sluit zijn machtige kaak een paar keer. Met zijn scherpe slagtanden verscheurt hij alles waar hij zijn klauwen in kan zetten. Hij is al weg en rent over de vlakte. Hoewel zijn hagedissenhuid bedekt is met veren, kan de carnivoor niet vliegen. Toch is hij snel genoeg en zit hij zijn prooi op de hielen. Snel wegwezen!
