De XS508M en is voorzien van koperen Ethernet-poorten met vijf snelheden: FastEthernet, 1-Gigabit 2.5-Gigabit 5-Gigabit en 10-Gigabit. Tevens is er één SFP+ glasvezelpoort met snelheden van 1-Gigabit en 10-Gigabit.
- Elke poort detecteert automatisch welke snelheid nodig is voor het aangesloten apparaat en zorgt voor de juiste snelheid.
- In tegenstelling tot gewone 10-Gigabit switches die slechts een 1-Gigabit connectiviteit voor ieder apparaat leveren waarvoor minder dan 10-Gigabit is vereist, geeft de XS508M de exacte snelheid die vereist is, zonder te hoeven downgraden.
- De Netgear switchpoorten met vijf snelheden kunnen met behulp van normale CAT5e Ethernet-kabels worden aangesloten, zonder de noodzaak te upgraden naar CAT6-bekabeling. Hierdoor bespaar je op bekabelingskosten en heb je minder gedoe.
