Paraffine verwarmers vormen een goede, economische manier om constante stralingswarmte in de kas te genereren. Deze warmte is essentieel om gevoelige planten, zoals tropische en vleesetende planten of fuchsia's of pelargoniums, door de winter te krijgen. Wanneer de vlam brandt, komt er waterdamp vrij, waardoor de lucht in de kas bevochtigd wordt. De verbranding produceert ook koolstofdioxide, een essentieel element voor plantengroei.
