Ze zijn ook in staat om hun hoofd hoog op te heffen van de grond, wat niet alleen een beetje eng is, maar hen ook helpt bij het zoeken naar voedsel. En om ze een beetje enger te maken, sissen ze luid om potentiële roofdieren af te schrikken. Er zijn 270 verschillende soorten cobra's en gelijksoortige slangen, waaronder Taipans, Adders, Mamba's en vele zeeslangen. Ze hebben allemaal korte hoektanden en zijn allemaal extreem giftig.
