Een van de belangrijke kenmerken van het ras Simmentaler is zijn uitstekende moederlijke eigenschap. De koe kan al na 15 maanden zwanger worden, een gezond kalf krijgen en opnieuw fokken terwijl ze haar kalf zoogt. Dit is een goede eigenschap omdat Simmental Cattle een tussenkalftijd van 365 dagen kan aanhouden. Een Simmentaler-koe van een goed ras kan dagelijks gemiddeld 16 tot 24 pond (7,3 tot 10,9 kg) melk produceren. Afmetingen: 13 x 6 x 8,5 centimeter.
