Deinonychus was een spectaculaire dinosaurus. Het was een snelle en wrede jager. Zijn naam betekent "vreselijke klauw" en kreeg deze naam vanwege de grote, intrekbare jachtklauw aan elk van zijn voeten. Net als zijn neef, de Velociraptor, gebruikte hij deze klauw om in het vlees van de dinosaurussen te scheuren waarop hij jaagde. De klauw zou naar voren springen en een grote, diepe wond maken als hij aanviel. Deinonychus was ongeveer twee keer zo groot als een gewone Velociraptor. 32 x 11 x 14.5 cm
