Spelers proberen de beste hotels te kopen en te bouwen in dit spel, om zo het meeste geld te verdienen of hun tegenstanders failliet te laten gaan. Een succesvol hotel bestaat uit drie onderdelen: het land waarop het is gebouwd, de hotelgebouwen en de ingangen waardoor gasten de hotels binnenkomen. Alle drie de onderdelen moeten apart worden gekocht met geld en spelers verdienen geld wanneer ze, na hun dobbelsteenworp, op een van de entrees van jouw hotels belanden. Hoe luxer het hotel, hoe meer geld de gasten je opleveren. Geld dat je kunt gebruiken om uitbreidingen voor je bestaande hotels te bouwen, nieuwe entrees te kopen of andere spelers te betalen wanneer je bij hun hotels aankomt. Het spel bestaat uit kartonnen, driedimensionale hotelgebouwen en recreatiecentra en kunststof entrees die op het grote speelbord kunnen worden geplaatst.
