Het leven van Sem en zijn familie staat volledig op z'n kop sinds ze onverwachts eigenaar zijn geworden van een dierentuin. En het ziet ernaar uit dat het in hun dierentuin nog een stuk gezelliger gaat worden… Het tehuis waar meneer Pretorius woont heeft een flinke lekkage en het is er veel te heet. De bewoners hebben dus tijdelijk ander onderdak nodig. Maar waar moeten ze naartoe? Dan komt meneer Pretorius met het plan om hen te huisvesten in de dierentuin - er staan immers veel verblijven leeg en het is er een stuk koeler. Zo verandert de dierentuin in een echte mensentuin. Dit brengt Sem op een goed idee voor zijn schoolproject… Het is hier (g)een hotel! is het tweede deel in de grappige nieuwe serie van Marlies Slegers (van o.a. ‘Gezocht: normale ouders’). De illustraties zijn gemaakt door Iris Boter (bekend van o.a. ‘Juf Braaksel’ en ‘De DierenRidders’).
