De Fluke 9040 is geschikt voor het meten van faserotatie overal waar driefasevoedingen worden gebruikt voor voeding van motoren, aandrijvingen en elektrische systemen. De Fluke 9040 is een draaiveldindicator en geeft via een LCD-display een duidelijke indicatie van de driefasenspanning en de faserotatierichting, zodat de juiste aansluitingen kunnen worden bepaald. De fasevolgorde kan snel worden bepaald en hij heeft een spanningsbereik (tot 700 V) en een frequentiebereik die geschikt zijn voor commerciële en industriële toepassingen. De meetprobes die met het instrument worden meegeleverd, hebben een variabel klembereik zodat een veilig contact mogelijk is, met name bij industriële contactdozen.
