Henry (Jamie Harrold) is een getalenteerde violist. Gevangen door plankenkoorts is het voor hem niet mogelijk om voor publiek te spelen. Hij leeft een eenzaam en arm bestaan aan de rand van New York. Wanneer hij het leven niet meer ziet zitten doet hij een poging tot zelfmoord, echter schiet hij mis. Radeloos besluit Henry terug te keren naar zijn geboorteplaats waar hij de warmte van zijn familie opzoekt die hem uit liefde, probeert te steunen. Hier ontmoet Henry Cynthia, een jonge vrouw die op weg is naar New York. Hij betrapt haar op het stelen van benzine maar besluit, geraakt door haar schoonheid, haar te helpen. Er ontstaat een kort moment van passie, waarna ze haar weg vervolgt. De dag hierna komt ze terug en biedt hem een baan en een kamer aan. Maar Henry kan maar aan een ding blijven denken... zijn muziek. Hij biecht zijn plankenkoorts op aan Cynthia en samen proberen ze een weg te vinden om deze angst te overwinnen. Overwint hij zijn angst dan zou de wereld aan zijn voeten liggen.
