Als zij aanstalten maken om het water in te gaan, waarschuwen de andere dieren hen voor de hapgrage krokodil. Maar de flamingo's zijn niet bang. Als de krokodil hen bedreigt, waarschuwen ze hem dat hij de hik zal krijgen als hij hen opeet. Dat werkt, en daarom gaan ook andere dieren het water in, terwijl ze de bijziende krokodil met precies dezelfde woorden tegemoet treden. Dat werkt keer op keer, totdat de krokodil argwaan krijgt.
