Azuleojos (oorspronkelijk witte en blauwe keramische tegels) zijn een uitvinding van de Moren. De versiering valt in de smaak bij de Portugese koning Manuel I tijdens zijn bezoek aan het Alhambra, in het zuiden van Spanje. Hij is zo onder de indruk van de fabelachtige schoonheid van de Moorse decoraties in het interieur van het Alhambra dat hij zijn eigen Evora paleis in Portugal met soortgelijke tegels laat versieren. In het tactische spel Azul is het aan de spelers om in opdracht van de koning de muren van het koninklijke paleis in Evora te verfraaien. Vorm patronen, bekleed de muren van het paleis, scoor de meeste punten en win! In het tactische bordspel Azul moet je voor de Portugese koning Manuel I de muren van zijn koninklijk paleis met kleurige tegels versieren. Tijdens het bezoek van de Portugese koning aan het Alhambra in Zuid-Spanje was de koning namelijk erg gebiologeerd van de prachtige Azulejos (de oorspronkelijke witte en blauwe keramische tegels) waarmee de muren van het paleis waren gedecoreerd. Daarom gaf hij onmiddellijk de opdracht aan jou om zijn paleis met soortgelijke decoratieve tegels te verfraaien.
