Deze F-connector (F-type connector) is een coaxiale RF-connector die wordt toegepast binnen 50 Ω coaxnetwerken voor televisie-, satelliet- en kabelinternettoepassingen. De connector wordt gebruikt bij terrestrische televisie, kabeltelevisie (DVB-C), satelliettelevisie (DVB-S) en kabelmodems (DOCSIS). Door de schroefverbinding ontstaat een mechanisch stabiele en elektrisch betrouwbare aansluiting met lage overgangsweerstand. De F-connector wordt doorgaans gemonteerd op coaxkabels zoals RG-6/U en RG-59/U. De diëlektrische isolatie wordt zodanig ingekort dat de centrale ader vrij komt en als signaalpin kan functioneren. De F-connector wordt vervolgens zonder speciaal gereedschap met een draaiende beweging op de kabel geschroefd totdat deze stevig vastzit. Een correcte montage zorgt voor goede massa-aansluiting via de vlechtmantel en een stabiele signaaloverdracht. Deze uitvoering is geschikt voor snelle installatie, maar biedt minder trekontlasting dan compressie- of krimpconnectoren. Technische toelichting F-type connector is ontworpen voor hoogfrequente signalen en behoudt een constante impedantie van 50 Ω, waardoor signaalreflecties worden beperkt.
