DisplayPort 2.0 en 2.1 bouwen hierop voort met hogere bandbreedte en betere HDR-prestaties bij hogere resoluties. Toelichting DSC: Display Stream Compression – compressie zonder zichtbaar kwaliteitsverlies, om hogere resoluties en refresh rates te behalen. MST: Multi-Stream Transport – meerdere beeldschermen via één DisplayPort-uitgang. HDR: High Dynamic Range – beter contrast, diepere kleuren. Adaptive Sync: Ondersteunt variabele verversingssnelheden (FreeSync/G-Sync). Gbps: Gigabit per seconde – datasnelheid van de verbinding. Connectorvormen per versie Full-size DisplayPort: standaardvorm, aanwezig op de meeste desktop GPU's. Mini DisplayPort: gebruikt op o.a. MacBooks, Microsoft Surface en sommige laptops (vooral vóór USB-C). USB-C met DisplayPort Alt Mode: vanaf versie 1.4a en 2.0 mogelijk – ondersteunt video-uit via USB-C poort.
