Mannelijke kalkoenen, ook wel "Tom Turkeys" of "Golers" genoemd, blazen hun lichaam op en spreiden hun staartveren (net als een pauw). Afmetingen: 5,5 x 4,5 x 6,5 centimeter. Ze grommen, maken een "gole gole-geluid" en paraderen rond terwijl ze hun veren schudden. Deze fraaie kalkoendraf helpt het mannetje vrouwtjes (ook wel "kippen" genoemd) aan te trekken om te paren.
