Zorg dat de lont ongeveer 1 cm boven de wax uitsteekt voor een gelijkmatige verbranding. Gebruik je meerdere lonten in één houder? Houd dan minimaal 7 cm afstand tussen de lonten voor een optimale brandervaring. Is de lont opgebrand? Vervang hem eenvoudig en geniet meteen weer van sfeervol kaarslicht. Restanten wax kunnen hergebruikt worden door ze om te draaien en opnieuw aan te steken.
