Deze SATA verlengkabel is bedoeld voor het verlengen van een gecombineerde SATA data- en stroomaansluiting (22-pins) en wordt gebruikt om SATA-apparaten met een 22-pins connector flexibeler te positioneren in een pc of server. De kabel combineert 7-pins SATA data en 15-pins SATA voeding in één verlenging en ondersteunt datasnelheden tot 6 Gb/s (SATA III). Dankzij de 5 afzonderlijke voedingsdraden worden alle benodigde spanningen doorgegeven: 3,3 V, 5 V en 12 V, inclusief massa (GND). De kabel is achterwaarts compatibel met SATA 1,5 Gb/s en 3 Gb/s. De verschillende aderdiktes zijn afgestemd op functie: 26 AWG voor data en 18 AWG voor voeding, wat zorgt voor een betrouwbare stroom- en signaaloverdracht.
