Product description

Als het individuele stokstaartje op de wacht staat en gevaar nadert, zullen ze alarm slaan voor de rest van de groep. Van stokstaartjes is bekend dat ze een breed scala aan vocale oproepen gebruiken om met elkaar te communiceren. Met lang gehuil waarschuwen ze de rest van de groep voor een naderende roofvogel, en met kort dubbel geblaf waarschuwen ze hen voor een roofdier dat de groep op de grond nadert. Het individuele territorium van een stokstaartjesgroep beslaat een gebied dat groot genoeg is om ervoor te zorgen dat de groep alles heeft wat ze nodig hebben om zo succesvol mogelijk te overleven. Dit omvat gebieden met zowel hard als zacht zand, want hoewel het harde zand de perfecte grond vormt om hun tunnels in te bouwen, kost het ook meer energie voor stokstaartjes om er voedsel in te zoeken.
