Siberië, 1919. Tijdens een transport per trein wordt een groot deel van Tsaar Nikolaas' goudschat gestolen. Tot op de dag van vandaag blijft het de grootste treinroof aller tijden en het goud is nooit teruggevonden. Californië, 2003. De jonge Vlad is een Amerikaan van Russische afkomst. Wanneer zijn grootvader overlijdt, erft hij een kaart waarop een goudschat staat aangegeven. Samen met zijn vriend vertrekt hij naar Rusland om het fortuin te gaan zoeken. Al gauw terkt hij de aandacht van de FBI en corrupte ex-KGB agenten, die over lijken gaan om de kaart in handen te krijgen. Wanneer Vlad ook nog eens de Russische maffia achter zich aan krijgt, lijkt zijn doodvonnis getekend. Maar gedreven door goudkoorts weet Vlad kogels te ontduiken en explosies te ontwijken. Maar lukt het Vlad om het goud te vinden en tegelijkertijd zijn belagers van zich af te schudden?
