De excentrieke Buzzard Wall en zijn knappe echtgenote Betty zijn in afwachting van het succes waar ze al zo lang op wachten. Buzz heeft na veel mislukte uitvindingen een superzonnecrème ontwikkeld. Ze leven samen in een stacaravan in de woestijn en dromen van Hawaii. Na weer een chaotische dag komt onverwacht bezoek binnen waaien. Het blijkt de uit de gevangenis ontsnapte broer van Buzz te zijn. Hij slaat Buzz in elkaar en steelt het beetje gekld wat in huis is. Op zijn vlucht naar de Mexicaanse grens neemt hij Bette mee als gijzelaar. Buzz gaat in de achtervolging en de meest krankzinnige taferelen volgens elkaar in sneltreinvaart op. Humor maakt plaats voor keihard geweld.
