Juf Josje lijkt een heel gewone juf, maar er is iets bijzonders met haar aan de hand. Als er een dier in nood is, verandert ze in Superjuffie. Zodra ze een hap van haar krijtje neemt, krijgt ze superkrachten en schiet ze als een groene tornado door de lucht om het dier te redden. Juf Josje probeert haar gave te verbergen voor de kinderen op haar nieuwe school, maar dat lukt niet lang. Gelukkig beloven ze niets te vertellen tegen de strenge directeur. Want het kan natuurlijk niet, een juf die halverwege een dictee zomaar wegvliegt. Samen verzinnen ze steeds allerlei uitvluchten als juf Josje weer eens te laat op school komt met takjes in haar haar of een eendje in haar jaszak.
