Bij de CDN-serie zijn de koolstofvezels van de riem ingebed in een kunststof op polymeerbasis. Bij de CDN-componenten ligt de nadruk meer op onderhoudsarme werking dan op een extreem lange levensduur in vergelijking met de andere Gates-series. Toch gaat de levensduur nog steeds gemiddeld anderhalf keer zo lang mee als die van een gewone fietsketting. Het CDN-systeem biedt daarmee een bijzonder voordelige instap in de Gates-technologie. Het CDN-systeem is speciaal ontwikkeld voor gebruik op stads- en alledaagse fietsen. Fietsen die bij weer en wind worden gebruikt, en die vaak buiten of bij het station geparkeerd staan. Fietsen waarbij onderhoudsarmheid en betrouwbaarheid extra belangrijk zijn. Het CDN-systeem is een stille, schone en onderhoudsarme aandrijving voor het stedelijke dagelijks gebruik en is gebaseerd op dezelfde koolstofvezeltechnologie als de topcomponenten van Gates.
