Doordat hij is uitgerust met een tijdschakelaar én een lichtsensor staat het aangesloten apparaat nooit meer onnodig aan en bespaar je op de energierekening. Je plaatst de tijdschakelklok in het stopcontact en sluit een elektrisch apparaat aan op de tijdschakelklok. Stel met de tijdschakelaar (de ronde knop) de juiste tijd in. Keuze uit: 2 uur, 4 uur, 6 uur en 8 uur. De sensor meet wanneer het donker wordt. Vanaf dit moment gaat je aangesloten apparaat aan. De tijd die je met de tijdschakelaar hebt ingesteld geeft aan hoe lang het apparaat vanaf nu aan blijft staan. Het apparaat gaat dus vanzelf weer uit naar het door jou gekozen aantal uur. Handig voor (buiten)verlichting die 's avonds na de schemering nog even mag branden, maar niet de hele nacht onnodig aan hoeft te blijven.
