De berg Cerro Torre is de moeilijkste berg op aarde voor alpinisten om te beklimmen en ook de grootste uitdaging voor alpinisten. Roccia, een ervaren alpinist en Martin, eveneeens een zeer bedreven klimmer hebben elkaar gevonden en samen bundelen zij al hun krachten en ervaring om de Cerro Torre te bedwingen. De eerste expeditie naar de top van de dodelijke Cerro Torre eindigt spoedig met de dood van Roccia's partner, maar Martin claimt dat hij de top heeft bereikt. Echter hij heeft geen bewijzen. Onder druk van de publieke opinie moet hij nogmaals de gevaardlijke Cerre Rocca beklimmen. Wederom wordt hij uitgedaagd door Roccia en de twee beginnen een bloedstollende klim naar de top met een fatale afloop.
