Kokosvet bevat een hoog gehalte aan leurinezuur, wat de huidgeur veranderd naar een geur die teken niet prettig vinden. MSM, bijenhars en biergist hebben hetzelfde effect. Ook de 10 soorten kruiden veranderen de lichaamsgeur zodanig dat het voor teken onaantrekkelijk wordt.
