Het mos houdt lang vocht vast en is zo in staat de luchtvochtig in terraria gedurende lange periode hoog te houden. Ook is het mos ideaal om grotten, achterwanden en bodem te bekleden en te decoreren in paludaria en terraria bij voorbeeld kikkers en reptielen uit regenwoudgebieden.
