3M 787C Fiberschijven zijn ontworpen voor alle typische toepassingen van dergelijke schuurmiddelen, inclusief maar niet beperkt tot afschuining, lasslijpen, lasvoorbereiding en algemeen schuren / slijpen waarbij de rand van de schijf niet wordt gebruikt. De primaire substraten voor dit product is van roestvrij staal en andere legeringen op basis van nikkel / chroom. Het is ook aanbevolen voor non-ferro legeringen zoals aluminium en titanium.
